Michael Bisping retained his Middleweight Title against Dan Henderson

Dan Henderson’s brutal knockout against Micheal Bisping at UFC 100, almost seven years ago, is still considered as one of the most terrific and terrifying knockouts fight fans have ever witnessed in MMA history.

The visuals of a seemingly unstoppable Micheal Bisping laying unconscious after the much touted ‘H-Bomb’ was followed by a brutal strike to the face by Henderson, are still fresh in fight fans’ memory, none more so than Micheal Bisping himself who recently had admitted of having seen the knockout ‘a million times’.

Bisping Vs Henderson 2 was one of the biggest revenge fights in the history of the organization and it truly lived up to its hype in a brutal five-round encounter. It was truly revenge story written for the ages. Let's take a look at the results, grades and highlights from the event held in Manchester, England.


#Featherweight Bout: Mirsad Bektic vs Russel Doane

Bektic choked out Doane in Round 1

Doane tried to start the round aggressively but was soon contained by Bektic’s counter offense. Doane tried to strangle through Bektic’s takedowns but Bektic showed his class and earned an easy first round submission victory for himself.

Result- Mirsad Bektic def. Russel Doane via Rear Naked Choke ( 4: 22 mins Round 1)

Highlights:

Bektic’s takedowns are a beautiful sight.

With an 11-0 record and a credible win over Russel Doane, Mirsad Bektic is definitely a fighter to look out for.

#Heavyweight Bout- Stefan Struve vs Daniel Omielanczuk

Struve overcame the challenge of Omielanczuk

Daniel was in for the biggest fight of his career against Struve. It was a fight between Daniel’s insane strength against Struve's insane reach. Winning 15 out of his last 17 fights, Daniel had a chance to make UFC’s tallest fighter his latest kill.

Daniel started off the round with a few inside leg kicks and an ugly right which he missed by a margin.Struve responded with a head kick which Daniel managed to block. Daniel looked to be aggressive but Struve’s reach proved to a hindrance.

Daniel connected a few but Struve looked unfazed for the better part of the round. The fight soon took to the mat where Struve dominated with ease. Struve pressed against Daniel against the cage for the beginning of the second round and managed to land some good knees before submitting Daniel with a D’Arce choke.

#Light Heavyweight Bout- Jimmy Manuwa vs Ovince Saint Preux

Manuwa started off aggressively with a couple of body kicks before both fighters exchanged some knees in a clinch. Manuwa landed some decent kicks followed by some strong knees pressing OSP against the cage.

OSP managed to get Manuwa’s back but Manuwa remained calm under pressure and managed to see through left hands in the dying seconds of the first round.

Saint Preux started the second round strong but was soon caught in a front face lock by Manuwa. Manuwa missed a few strikes before managing to land a swift headkick followed by a few inside leg kicks.

Manuwa capitalized with some body shots and managed to stop OSP with a huge right hook earning himself a knockout victory.

Result: Jimmy Manuwa def. Ovince Saint Preux via Knockout ( 2: 38 mins Round 2)

Highlights:

Manuwa’s striking is satisfyingly clean and a joy to watch.

Manuwa’s body shots are underrated.

Saint Preux lost a significant amount of steam in the second round. It was a bit uncharacteristic of him.

#Middleweight Bout- Gegard Mousasi vs Vitor Belfort

Vitor Belfort has been a true legend of the game. The longevity of his career has been outstanding. Gegard Mousasi seemed to the perfect opponent for the aging veteran. Gegard managed to withstand a flurry early on in the first round by Belfort. Gegard remained calm and managed to find some openings for him while seeing through Vitor’s impulsive flurries.

Vitor managed to defend a takedown from Mousasi who seemed to be very cautious of Vitor’s fast strikes. Mousasi managed to land a combination on Vitor and ended the round on a strong note.

Mousasi started the second round with some jabs and inside-leg kicks before landing a brutal head-kick and unleashing a flurry of strikes on Vitor and finishing him off with strikes.

Mousasi made light work of Vitor Belfort

Result: Gegard Mousasi def. Vitor Belfort via Knockout (2:43 mins Round 2)

Highlights:

Gegard looks incredibly calm during his fights.

Vitor Belfort’s Hand-Speed is incredible and probably the best in the division.

Gegard’s accuracy in his flurry of strikes on Belfort was incredible!

Gegard demanding an Anderson Silva fight is interesting. It would be an incredible fight.

#Middleweight Championship Bout: Micheal Bisping vs Dan Henderson

Michael Bisping eked out a decision victory over Dan Henderson

Bisping started off the round on a cautious note and maintained his distance early on in the round one. Henderson missed several ‘H-Bombs’ but managed to drop Bisping after connecting one. Bisping somehow miraculously managed to survive Henderson’s hammerfists and elbows.

Bisping recovered in the second round and looked to take control with plenty of significant strikes. Bisping managed to land a strong head kick on Henderson in the middle of the second round. Bisping’s flurry was stopped by another H-Bomb which Bisping somehow managed to recover from.

Bisping dominated the better part of the third and fourth round with his own brand of offense. Henderson got struck with a groin shot and took full time to recover, which wasn’t received very well by Bisping.

Henderson landed a decent strike and managed a takedown in the final round but Bisping’s somehow escaped through it commanded the offence for the better part of the round. The fight went to the judges who declared Bisping the winner by 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46, thus ending Henderson’s career.

Result- Bisping def. Henderson via decision.

Highlights:

Micheal’s ability to withstand punches is outstanding.

Bisping surviving two brutal H-Bombs in the first and second rounds, showing tremendous heart.

Henderson utilizing the full time-out for the groin shot and getting some wind was a veteran move.

Bisping seemed unfazed by the swelling below his left eye and showcased tremendous cardio during the Championship rounds.

Crowd chanting for Henderson after the fight was a brilliant sight to watch.

One of the most awaited rematches in UFC’s history managed to live up to its hype in incredible fashion.
