What's the story?

UFC 231 saw a big fight for the Women's Strawweight Division when Claudia Gadelha faced Nina Ansaroff.

Nina Ansaroff was one of the best overall fighters on the night when she faced Claudia Gadelha. There seemed to be little anyone could do to stop her, as she kept the jabs coming and taught Gadelha a lesson in striking.

In case you didn't know...

Claudia Gadelha has made it her business to make sure that everyone knows how good of a fighter she is. She has had her share of losses in her 8 fights in the UFC. With 3 losses, she had 5 wins heading into her latest fight in the Octagon. Ranked at number 3 in the official UFC Strawweight Rankings, it was her fight to lose. A win here would see her with a possible title fight in the future.

Her opponent for the night had a record of number 11 in the official rankings. Nina Ansaroff came into the fight with a 3-fight win streak, something she was looking to add to further with this particular fight.

The winner of this fight might very well have been the next contender for a Women's Strawweight Title fight.

The heart of the matter

The fight was a huge surprise, as number 11 ranked fighter Nina Ansaroff completely outclassed number 3 ranked Claudia Gadelha. They went the whole 3 rounds, at the end of which Ansaroff claimed the Unanimous Decision win over a bloody and battered Claudia Gadelha.

If there was one fighter who was given a total lesson in fighting, it was Gadelha. Ansaroff took her striking game to the next level, at one point even battering her while Gadelha raised her opponent's leg over her head. A lone take-down was not enough for Gadelha to come away with the win.

Ansaroff got the win, and with it came closer to a future title fight than what she could have hoped for.

What's next?

Nina Ansaroff is possibly the next big star heading out of UFC 231. What's next for her? Lets see what happens. Her striking abilities will make sure everyone is facing issues.
