UFC 232 can't come soon enough as far as Mixed Martial Arts fans are concerned. With the coming of the last UFC event of the year, the fans are excited about a card which is filled with potentially extremely exciting fights.

Headlining the card, is none other than the returning Jon Jones. He takes on the man with the grudge, Alexander Gustafsson for the UFC Lightheavyweight Title. The pair faced before, but the result was not to the satisfaction of Gustaffson. According to him the Unanimous Decision loss that he had been handed was nothing but a joke, as he felt he had done enough to defeat Jones.

The co-main event of the night is no less exciting, with Women's Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg returning to action. She will be defending her title against Amanda Nunes.

In the Preliminary Card and Early Preliminary Card, there are several bouts of note, including the Heavyweight Fight between Andrei Arlovsky and Walt Harris. Elsewhere, BJ Penn is also featured on the card for a fight against Ryan Hall.

The rest of the main card and the undercard of UFC 232 is also stacked. Before heading into further discussion about the main card, let's take a look at the Preliminary Card and the Early Preliminary Card from the night.

#5 Chad Mendes vs. Alexander Volkanovski

UFC 179: Aldo v Mendes 2
UFC 179: Aldo v Mendes 2

Following his back-to-back losses to some of the top fighters in the UFC, Conor McGregor and Franki Edgar, Chad Mendes took time away from the Octagon to recover. He came back after 2.5 years in 2018 and got a huge win against Myles Jury.

He will be facing in his second fight since his return, another top Featherweight Fighter, who only has one loss in his career and is undefeated in the UFC, Alexander Volkanovski.

The two fighters are well matched and despite suspecting this could turn out to be a mismatch given Volkanovski's form, Mendes has enough experience on his side to make sure that the audience is not handed a mauling. It might be Volkanovski who should be prepared.

#4 Ilir Latifi vs Corey Anderson

UFC 215: Nunes v Shevchenko 2

In the second fight of the main card, Latifi will be facing Corey Anderson in the Light Heavyweight Fight.

Bith fights are coming off of impressive wins in their last two fights, and a further win here will cement their place in the upper echelons of the rankings. Already at Number 5, Latifi will be hoping for a win here so as to make it to a title fight in the near future. After defeating Ovince Saint-Preux in his last fight, some would argue that it is the inevitable direction where he is headed.

Meanwhile, last three fights of Anderson have gone on to be a decision, with one loss and two wins. Not a fighter known for ending his fights early, he will be against his element if Latifi uses his Knockout expertise to go for an early win against him.

#3 Carlos Condit vs. Michael Chiesa

UFC on Fox: Live Heavyweight Championship

With an immense record of 30 wins in his professional Mixed Martial Arts career, Carlos Condit is quite the character in UFC. Currently on a decline for a while with four losses in his last four fights, he enters proceedings here hoping to do something to set the record straight.

In desperate need of a win, the number 12 ranked Welterweight in the UFC, is up to face Michael Chiesa.

Chiesa does not have the best previous record himself, with his last two fights both ending in a loss for the fighter. Chiesa is ranked number 9 in the Lightweight rankings in the UFC, but this will be his debut fight in the Welterweight Division.

Missing weight in his last fight at UFC 226 might also have played a big factor in his decision to change divisions at this point.

Both fighters will be looking for a win at this point.

#2 Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes

UFC 222: Cyborg v Kunitskaya
UFC 222: Cyborg v Kunitskaya

Another fighter with only a single loss on her record, Cris Cyborg has been undefeated for a long time in the UFC. Despite her well-known problems with weight cutting, Cyborg has remained a dominant force in the Octagon, who is yet to be defeated.

She goes up against a fighter of distinction when she puts her UFC Women's Featherweight Title on the line against Amanda Nunes. Nunes is currently the reigning Women's Bantamweight Champion, and is looking to add to her legacy by becoming the first-ever Women's Champion to hold the belts of two divisions simultaneously.

The two fighters are some of the best inside the Octagon and have been in some epic fights in their time in the UFC. Cyborg is currently on a five-fight winning streak inside the Octagon, while Nunes has a seven-fight streak. It will be interesting to see which streak survives heading into the future.

#1 Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson

UFC 214 Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones
UFC 214 Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones

In the main event of the night, Alexander Gustafsson and Jon Jones will battle for the UFC Lightheavyweight Championship. Jones and Gustafsson have differences of opinion about what happened the last time the two of them met in the Octagon, but this is the perfect opportunity for them to clear those very differences.

Jones has been away from the Octagon for a long time following his last fight against Daniel Cormier due to his suspension upon testing positive for banned substances.

Surprisingly, Gustafsson has been away for even a longer time, as he has long been campaigning for a fight against either Jones or Cormier for a long time now.

When the two of them meet in the Octagon experts will be looking on to see if there is any hint of rust on either fighter. This fight will also be under scrutiny for Jones' multiple offences.
