With the UFC removing Edwards altogether from the January card, the promotion has made it clear that they want to book the fight again for 2021.

Despite asking to compete on the upcoming Fight Island card, Edwards was eventually removed with Neil Magny vs Michael Chiesa promoted as the new main event. This decision shows that the UFC will ultimately re-book the Edwards vs Chimaev fight, which could even occur in a PPV in Las Vegas.
