This fight could’ve very well ended up as a fatal bout for Cachoeira.

Valentina Shevchenko did her job and executed her game-plan both on the feet and the mat to a T. However, as reiterated by several MMA experts as well as UFC President Dana White in the aftermath of the fight, referee Mario Yamasaki could have stopped this fight late in Round 1 or early in Round 2 as Shevchenko landed several unanswered strikes on her downed foe.

Despite Shevchenko alluding to Cachoeira’s plight, Yamasaki urged the former to continue fighting, following which ‘Bullet’ mercifully sunk in a Rear Naked Choke and brought an end to the bout.

Result: Valentina Shevchenko def. Priscila Cachoeira via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) (Round 2, 4:25)

Yamasaki has come under fire for his careless refereeing as Dana White cast serious doubts on his UFC future in the post-fight conference. As for Pricila, she suffered a knee injury during the fight apart from serious blows to the head that could have taken its toll.

#3 Michel Prazeres vs. Desmond Green

Michel Prazeres missed weight badly, additionally, given that he wasn’t even remotely close to the weight limit, this victory seems to be a tad tarnished owing to the same.

Green had his moments in this fight, however, Prazeres controlled the rhythm of the bout over long stretches of time. Prazeres slightly edged his foe both on the feet and the mat, en route to a competitive decision victory.

Result: Michel Prazeres def. Desmond Green via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

#4 Timothy Johnson vs. Marcelo Golm

Johnson came in with his usual clinch-heavy game-plan and forced himself into short range with Golm.

The crowd booed throughout as Johnson attempted to tire out Golm, by turning the fight into a prolonged clinch-fest. Johnson did land a few awkward strikes, however, the majority of this matchup was spent by both fighters battling it out in the clinch, with no decisive moments in the bout, except for Johnson’s clinch control.

In the end, the judges awarded the decision victory to Timothy Johnson.

Result: Timothy Johnson def. Marcelo Golm via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

#5 Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Marlon Vera
