What's the story?

Cain Velasquez may be making a return to UFC in the first fight of his new four-fight contract, but he has other things on his mind at the moment.

Velasquez was on ESPN's Ariel Helwani's MMA Show, where he talked about his other interests outside UFC. One of those interests was a possible move to the professional wrestling leading promotion, WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Velasquez was unable to compete in the UFC for more than two years since UFC 207 due to issues with bone spurs on his back. He recently signed a new contract with UFC for a four-fight contract.

In the first of his four-fight contract, he is expected to fight Francis Ngannou at UFC on ESPN in February, headlining the event.

Velasquez is hardly the first UFC fighter to talk about going to WWE, with Ronda Rousey, one of the pioneers of the Women's division in UFC currently headlining WWE events.

Daniel Cormier has also talked about a move to WWE, assuming a commentary role instead of as a performer.

The heart of the matter

In his interview with Ariel Helwani of The MMA Show, Cain Velasquez talked about admiring WWE. He said that he had always been a fan of the company and that he wanted to wrestle in WWE sometime in the near future.

He said that he loved the opportunity he had to visit a WWE training center recently, and it was like a dream come true for him. He expressed his intention to work with them in the future.

He mentioned that he knew he had to focus on his fighting for the moment, but this was something he intended to follow through on.

What's next?

Cain Velasquez may be about to face Francis Ngannou next in UFC, but WWE management will be keeping a look out on the future of the UFC fighter with interest.
