EA Sports has officially announced that pay-per-view king Conor McGregor will grace the cover of the UFC 3 video game.

In case you didn't know....
Conor McGregor is the only UFC athlete in history to have held more than one title at the same time. McGregor became the UFC Featherweight champion after defeating Jose Aldo in a shockingly brief thirteen-second bout. He defeated Eddie Alvarez in two rounds as well, thus becoming the Lightweight Champion as well.
McGregor has not been seen in a UFC ring since he defeated Eddie Alvarez. He was defeated by Floyd Mayweather in a boxing, but the amount of money he made from the fight was enough to wash away the sadness of loss.
The heart of the matter
UFC has seen the popularity of MMA rise high and fast in recent years. The UFC 3 game had to be graced by one of the people largely responsible for this rise in popularity, and Conor McGregor certainly fit the bill.
In their press statement, UFC revealed that McGregor was the cover star and talk about the different features of the game.
McGregor was also on the cover of UFC 2, but on that occasion, he shared it with former Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
He was pleased to be on the cover for the second time.“Two belts, two covers – EA SPORTS got it right again. It’s an honour to be on the cover and I can’t wait to play the game,” he said.
What's next?
There is a chance that McGregor may not come back to the UFC unless he is given part-ownership of the company. He is unlikely to fight again in 2017, and he may not fight again unless he is given the right to co-promote his own fights.

McGregor is the only person worthy of being the cover star of this video game. Even though there are many talented performers out there, none of them can match the popularity of the charismatic Irishman.
