Cory Sandhangen is understandably a disappointed man. The #3 Bantamweight was all set to face a man who he once idolized Frankie Edgar, in what was supposed to be The Answer's Bantamweight debut.

However, circumstances changed things as Brian Ortega was forced to pull out of his December 21st fight against "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung after potentially rupturing his ACL.

As a result, Frankie Edgar was forced to pull out of the Sandhagen fight and stepped up to replace Ortega and face Korean Zombie instead. Sandhagen was looking forward to the fight and making his name off a legend in Edgar and he's understandably disappointed with how things transpired at his expense. He put out a statement saying:

From the UFC's perspective, the priority was to save the main event of a major fight card, and because of Chan Sung Jung's popularity, they would understandably not want to keep him out of the card.

Edgar was supposed to face Jung at the UFC 25th Anniversary Fight Night in November 2018, but pulled out with an injury. He'll finally be able to fight The Korean Zombie, though Sandhangen is right in stating that the fight does nothing to get him close to a title shot.

The only assumption that can be made is that Edgar was offered a lot more money to save the main event, whereas he was in a 3-round co-main event for UFC Raleigh. While the fight against Sandhagen hasn't been outright canceled, it's safe to assume that Edgar will probably sustain enough damage against Korean Zombie that will rule him out from fighting a month later.

It probably means that UFC will have to wait a few months to set up a fight between Edgar and Sandhagen again. Is the Bantamweight right in getting frustrated?
