UFC News: 'Cowboy' Cerrone explains what he's fighting for with the MMAAA

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone reveals what it is he is fighting for after aligning with the MMAAA

Last week it was announced that Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, along with former Bellator mixed martial arts (MMA) CEO and President Bjorn Rebney, Cain Velasquez, Georges St-Pierre, Tim Kennedy, and TJ Dillashaw, all formed the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association (MMAAA) to fight for better working conditions for UFC athletes.

Cerrone is expected to take on Matt Brown in the co-main event of UFC 206 this weekend (Saturday December 10, 2016), and during a recent media scrum promoting the event ‘Cowboy’ discussed his involvement in the MMAAA and what it is he is fighting for:

"As far as the Association goes man, Georges [St-Pierre] and Tim [Kennedy] called me and asked me to be part of it," Cerrone said (courtesy of MMA Fighting). "I didn’t know I was sitting on a board. That kind of took me by surprise, sitting there like, oh wow. I spoke to Dana [White] today on the phone. He’s coming to town, and we’re going to go out to dinner and talk. There’s a lot of things I think this sport needs, you know, retirement pension, health care, things I think we need."

Cerrone is coming off of a very impressive win over Rick Story at UFC 202, marking the third straight win and finish for him under the UFC banner since making the jump up to 170 pounds.

‘Cowboy’ previously competed in the UFC’s 155 pound division where he was a former title challenger, and may be quite the contender in the welterweight class as well with a potential win over ‘Immortal’ this weekend.

Brown and Cerrone will meet in the co-main event of UFC 206 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada Saturday night (December 10, 2016).
