UFC News: Nate Diaz will face the winner of McGregor vs Alvarez says Gilbert Melendez

Words outta Area 209.

Nate Diaz has been wanting to get his hands on McGregor for one last time. The score between the duo is now even with Diaz picking up a submission win over McGregor at UFC 196 and McGregor successfully going the distance at UFC 202.

As much as the fans want a third match, Diaz’s training partner Gilbert Melendez is confident about a possible match between the winner of the McGregor vs Alvarez fight against Diaz.

“Diaz is a natural 155-pounder … and I think he fights the winner,” the former Strikeforce champion said, according to Mmajunkie.com.

“There’s all these tough guys, but really, we’re talking about business here and how things work. It’s like, Eddie wins that fight, and I think Nate gets that fight. Conor wins that fight, and I think Nate gets that fight, as well.”

The product of Gracie Fighter, Melendez says that fans want Diaz to get a title shot and he wouldn’t fail in putting up a show for the fans. As far as business is concerned, that seems to be the right move to fill in the seats of any given UFC event.

During the interview, Melendez said that currently, the UFC was about making big fights rather than giving title fight opportunities to the deserved contenders. Khabib Nurmagmedov was the much deserving contender for the title but the UFC changed its plans and handed the opportunity to McGregor instead.

With the UFC under new ownership, the company plans to make maximum benefits with big events scheduled. The numbers are already going up with the ticket sales and subscriptions. There's no doubt that UFC 205 is going to be a historic event.
