What's the story?

The former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz is finally on the road to recovery.

A fighter whose career has been plagued by injuries throughout, Cruz is someone who has somehow managed to stay positive throughout, no matter how bleak the situation.

In his recent post, Cruz talked about making his recovery following his shoulder surgery.

In case you didn't know...

Dominick Cruz has not had the best time since signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Although a talented fighter and a former champion, injuries have brought his career to an almost halt.

He lost the Championship to Cody Garbrandy at UFC 207 and has not been in a fight since then. In fact, in the last seven years with the UFC, he has fought a total of four times.

He was about to make a huge return this January when he was booked for a fight against John Lineker at UFC 233. Unfortunately, that fight had to be cancelled when he contracted a shoulder injury in the lead up to the fight during training. The cancellation of the fight was also the final straw which led to the cancellation of the pay-per-view as a whole due to the lack of fights.

The heart of the matter

Dominick Cruz posted a photo on Twitter recently following his surgery.

He let the fans know that he was doing better, and was on the path to recovery, saying that the surgery had been a success.

The picture he posted with the announcement, saw his shoulder covered in bandages due to the surgery. He also thanked everyone for the support which he had received.

What's next?

The surgery and the injury is one which will take time for him to recover from. Dominick Cruz could be out for the majority of 2019 if not the whole year.

However, knowing Cruz he will be looking to get back into the Octagon as soon as he is cleared to return. We at Sportskeeda wish Dominick Cruz a swift recovery.
