What's the story?

Paulie Malignaggi is one of those fighters who has never really shied away from controversy. Now, he has plunged himself neck deep in it all over again, by calling out former UFC Champion Conor McGregor and asking him not to 'sexually harass' Malignaggi.

Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi have been at loggerheads ever since pictures and videos of McGregor dropping Malignaggi during a sparring session was leaked online. Malignaggi has his own theory about McGregor's obsession with him.

In case you didn't know...

Pauli Malignaggi helped Conor McGregor train for the Floyd 'Money' Mayweather fight, by joining him as his sparring partner. After McGregor and his team left the training camp, pictures and videos surfaced online of McGregor dropping Malignaggi during their sparring session.

Malignaggi was less than happy about the leaks, saying that if the whole video of their entire sparring session had been posted, then they would have told quite a different story. Malignaggi and McGregor have taken shots at each other over the course of the past 1.5 years, and recently McGregor posted an Instagram post about a previous confrontation between the two.

He went on to address his fight with Khabib in the post as well.

The heart of the matter

During a recent interview, Malignaggi asked McGregor why he was still on his mind and then went on to explain the theory he had about McGregor.

"The guy’s gay. The guy’s gay and I don’t have anything against that. but, like, I'm not gay, so don’t come at me that way, please. I have rights as a straight guy. I have rights to tell you I don’t want to go that way. please, leave me alone. Don’t sexually harass me this way. I think he has this curiosity about me, and he’s trying to see if he can get my interest, pique my interest in him." - MMA News

Malignaggi's accusation seems to be nothing more than his way of trying to mock Conor McGregor. This might be going too far, and it will be interesting to see how Conor McGregor answers this.

What's next?

Conor McGregor is not known for letting things lie, and when he answers, Malignaggi might regret his own theory.
