It is not every day that fighters have compliments for each other in the world of MMA. But Monday was such a day for sure.
In a 'Question and Answer' session with his fans on Twitter, Dustin Poirier had words of praise to say about his former rival Conor McGregor.
Poirier calls McGregor the hardest hitter
Poirier has been answering his fans' questions on social media for a while now. On November 25, a particular fan asked him to name the hardest hitter he has ever fought.
Poirier had a clear answer to the question - it was "Conor by far".
Given how Poirier is considered a powerful slugger himself, and how he has gone up against some of the hardest hitters in the circuit in the last few years, that is an impressive compliment to get.
The two went head to head in September, 2014 at UFC 178. Although McGregor came into the Octagon with far lesser experience than Poirier, it took him a minute and 46 seconds to knock Poirier out with punches and establish himself as a Featherweight contender.
It would be only a year later that he won the Featherweight title knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds.
