UFC News: Eddie Alvarez predicts a submission win over McGregor at UFC 205

Alvarez and McGregor stare down in the lead-up to their meeting at UFC 205

This time around, it isn’t only Conor McGregor who is making a prediction as we approach the Irishman’s fight night, as ‘The Notorious One’s’ opponent Eddie Alvarez has now thrown his prediction in the hat for the massive UFC 205 main event.

Alvarez won the title with a thriller knockout over Rafael dos Anjos in their main event clash at UFC Fight Night 90 in July, putting the cherry on top of a long journey in the UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) as a whole.

Now he will attempt to defend his title against the surging McGregor in the main event of UFC 205, where if McGregor is successful he will become the first man in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes at the same time.

Ahead of their potential history-making bout, Alvarez recently caught up with FOX Sports to state that he sees his fight with the featherweight king going similar to the first match between Nate Diaz and McGregor at UFC 196, where McGregor was wobbled by a big shot and was subsequently choked out in the second round via a rear-naked choke:

"I think we do it under the nine-minute mark," Alvarez told FOX Sports on Monday. "Big, big heavy shots, he goes down and then submission. I can see it ending much like the (Nate) Diaz fight where I land the heavy shot and then I finish with a submission."

Alvarez didn’t stop there, however, as he would go on to claim that he has seen some dwindle in McGregor’s heart inside the Octagon, and he will expose it to the world come fight night in New York.

‘The Underground King’ made a bold statement by claiming he will rip McGregor’s heart out on November 12th and show it to the world, but can he back it up?
