UFC News: Glover Teixeira praises Anthony Johnson's vicious knockout power

Glover Teixeira says Anthony Johnson hits ‘too hard’

Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, is arguably the most feared striker in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, blazing through any fighter in his path, since making the jump up to 205 pounds.

Most recently, Johnson’s vicious hands claimed another victim in the co-main event of UFC 202 in August, when the Blackzillians team member knocked out, light heavyweight, Glover Teixeira in just 13 seconds.

Teixeira recently spoke to Brazilian news outlet AG Fight to discuss his loss to ‘Rumble’, stating that if anyone gets hit in the right spot from the heavy-handed juggernaut, it is all over for them:

"The fight starts standing, so you have to strike. It's just like what they told Aldo when he lost to McGregor. There was no time to react, it happens. To be honest, he was the strongest guy to ever hit me. It was the first KO I ever suffered. I had been knocked down in training before where my vision went dark for a little bit, but never like that. He hits too hard and the gloves are very small. Depending on how it [the punch] hits you, it's over."

The highlight reel knockout would earn Johnson the next shot at current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. This is a rematch from their previous title bout at UFC 187 in May of 2015.

The interesting part of the fight, however, is that shortly after it’s announcement, Cormier vowed to stand and trade shots with Johnson, promising to knock him out rather than take him down and impose his will on him with his ground game.

Cormier and Johnson will meet in the main event of UFC 206, for the light heavyweight championship live, on pay per view (PPV), from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 11, 2016.
