Luke Rockhold has been open about the fact that he's enjoyed his time away from fighting. Naturally, commitment to an MMA career means sacrificing everything else outside of the Octagon and also lesser time with family and friends.

Rockhold last fought this past July against Jan Błachowicz in his Light Heavyweight debut and suffered a devastating knockout loss.

Rockhold openly admitted to having lost his passion to fight but didn't close the door on a return just yet. When speaking to Submission Radio, Rockhold was asked about the man he beat to become Champion - Chris Weidman - and the idea of a rematch against him.

The two were supposed to have a rematch at UFC 199 but Weidman pulled out of the fight, after which Rockhold famously got knocked out by longtime journeyman Michael Bisping. On the second occasion, they were supposed to meet at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden, but on that occasion, it was Rockhold who pulled out with an injury.

The former Champion wished Weidman the best but said that he was not interested in a rematch.

“I don’t really have it in me right now. I don’t feel like it is a rivalry. It was one to zero. I wish the best for Chris and I have no interest in pursuing that at this point.”

He also explained that he's enjoying his break and immersing himself in non-UFC ventures:

“Fighting kind of consumes your life. You can’t focus on other things. It is nice to take a break, I have been doing this thing for so many years, almost 14 years now. So, I’m chilling and working on other businesses, working on other ventures and I’m having fun doing it. It’s nice to kind of have that off your shoulders. I get to enjoy my family and friends and not miss out on everything because I have a fight coming up.” (H/T credits BJPenn.com).

We wish both Rockhold and Weidman nothing but the best. It seems as though both men's careers are slowly winding down and if so, they'll have a great legacy to be remembered by.
