What's the story?

Ahead of his massive title defense at UFC 231, current Featherweight Champion, Max Holloway had a lot to say about his undefeated opponent Brian Ortega during Wednesday's Press Conference.

Holloway, who en route to UFC 231 has already defeated former Featherweight King Jose Aldo not once, but twice, seemingly claimed that he's better in almost every single aspect than his upcoming opponent Ortega.

In case you didn't know...

Max Holloway won the UFC Featherweight Championship back at UFC 212 by beating former champion Jose Aldo in a title unification bout. Following his triumphant win, Holloway was then expected to defend his title belt against Frankie Edgar at UFC 218, but due to Edgar eventually pulling out of the card, Holloway was once again scheduled to face Jose Aldo in a rematch.

At UFC 218, Holloway once again defeated Aldo, meanwhile, at UFC 222, Ortega knocked out former UFC Lightweight Champion, the legendary Frankie Edgar in spectacular fashion to go 6-0 inside the Octagon.

The heart of the matter

Despite Brian Ortega's impressive undefeated record inside the Octagon, Featherweight Champion, Max Holloway seemingly isn't too concerned about T-City's impressive record and résumé.

Holloway instead claimed on Wednesday that everything Ortega has already done, the champion has seemingly achieved it beforehand. After all, 'Blessed' is currently on a 12-fight winning streak and has already capped off Jose Aldo on two back-to-back occasions, therefore, he has all the reasons in the world to remain confident. “He’s good. He’s a dangerous man, but everybody keeps talking about Brian and this and that. Everything the guy did, I did better. He’s on what, a six-fight win streak? I got 12. He beat a champion? I beat two — and I beat one of them twice. So at the end of the day, the ‘Blessed’ express is going around in a circle. We’re lapping you, bro. And I’m younger than you, so congratulations.”

What's next?

Max Holloway and Brian Ortega will square off in the main event of UFC 231 on the 9th of December, 2018 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
