UFC interim featherweight champion Max Holloway is riding an incredible high after capping off his now ten-fight win streak with a UFC title win, when he defeated former lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis in the main event of UFC 206 this past weekend (Saturday, December 10, 2016) with a very impressive third round TKO win.
The bout hints at a future title unification match with the undisputed 145-pound featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the near future. Jose Aldo, just days after the bout had stated he already knew he’d fight the Pettis vs. Holloway winner at UFC 209 in Brooklyn.

Holloway recently joined The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani earlier today (Monday, December 12, 2016) to respond to Aldo’s claims:
“I don’t know, we got Jose Waldo over here saying February 11th, he wants to retire, he wants to be a soccer player, now he’s a fu*cking match-maker. Like I said before, UFC needs to send his ass to the Cleveland Clinic and check his brain out.
They’ve been sending me out a bunch of times and it seems my brain is fine, I’ve got no problem talking with you guys and doing all this sh*t.”
Holloway has stated that he won’t go the usual path after his win and call out the now former featherweight champion Conor McGregor, as he is reluctant to beg anyone for a fight. He also went on to talk about the hashtag #Josewaldo:
“So yeah we’ll see what happens but I’ve said it before that I don’t want to give up my Christmas, I don’t want to give up my son’s birthday on January 4th for February 11th and the guy don’t show up.
The hashtag #wheresjosewaldo has been working because he’s popping up here and there, but we gotta keep turning the page and keep finding him. We’ll see what happens.”
Holloway also stated that he will challenge the former long-time featherweight king in hopes of solidifying his new position as a champion in the featherweight division. If a bout between Aldo and Holloway is indeed in the works for next year, it is sure to be a showdown that MMA fans aren’t going to want to miss.
