UFC News: Mickey Gall feels he can out work Sage Northcutt

The man who put an end to Punk!

The two rising stars of the Lightweight division, Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt are set to clash at UFC on Fox event this weekend.

The duo showcased their excellent combat skills that impressed Dana White on ‘Looking For a Fight’ series, earning them both UFC contracts. Now on the brink of their fight, Mickey Gall stated that he would overpower his opponent in a stand-up game or on the ground.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, he said:

“Pick your poison – I’m going to hurt him in either spot. If I hit him with some shots, he might go to sleep. If we go to the ground, I level above him there. Yeah, I think my standup is better than his and my ground is better than his.”

According to Gall, he never had to trade punches with any of his opponent in his past fights, which is why not many have witnessed his striking abilities. This is the reason Northcutt is believed to have an advantage if the fight doesn’t go to the ground.

Gall explains that in his last fight with CM Punk, the former WWE Champion came at him with aggression that required him to take the fight to the ground. In his UFC debut against Michael Jackson, his opponent went down with just one strike which led to the fight ending via submission.

One can’t deny that Northcutt is more familiar with the cage than Gall, with a decent record of seven wins and just one loss in his MMA career. Whereas Gall has had three fights in his career, with all of them ending in his favour, via a perfect display of rear-naked choke submission.
