When former WWE Superstar CM Punk made his pro mixed martial arts (MMA) debut he was beaten by 170-pound prospect Mickey Gall in the first round via submission. Now Gall is set to embark on his third match-up in the Octagon and was asked on his thoughts about the former pro-wrestling star joining the franchise.

“I think he’ll be dealt (with) the same way I dealt him. If he fights a UFC caliber guy, I think they’ll do it in the same way. So I think in hindsight, he probably should’ve taken some regional fights, amateur fighters, smaller shows.

Gall would go on to claim that he thinks Punk’s immediate involvement with the UFC will eventually ‘water down’ the sport.

But I think that’s ballsy of him to want to come back. I don’t know. I mean, he’s definitely going to help your pay-per-view and he brings that other audience. But for kinda the legitimacy of the sport, I think it may water it down a little bit.”

After handing Punk a quick first round submission victory at UFC 203 this past August, Gall proceeded to call out fellow UFC President Dana White’s Lookin For A Fight prospect, ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt. Gall would call Northcutt ‘corny’ and expressed his desire to throw down with the Texas native.

He has been granted his wish as the two youngsters will collide at this weekend’s UFC on FOX card form Sacremento. Gall and Northcutt will meet on the main card of UFC on FOX 22 from the Golden 1 Arena in Sacramento, California on Saturday night (December 17, 2016).
