UFC News: Nick Diaz eyeing a potential return to the Octagon after getting cleared of domestic violence charges

What's the story?

On 30th August 2018, all domestic violence charges against top Mixed Martial Arts star Nick Diaz were finally dismissed by the Las Vegas, Nevada District Attorney’s office after an alleged incident took place between Diaz and a female acquaintance.

In case you didn't know...

Nick Diaz's last fight in the Octagon took place way back in 2015 at UFC 183 when 'The Stockton Slugger' faced-off against former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva in a close back-and-forth contest.

Diaz, who eventually lost to 'The Spider' via unanimous decision, shortly afterward failed his post-fight drug test for marijuana metabolites, whereas, Silva tested positive on January 9 for drostanolone, androstane, oxazepam, and temazepam in pre-fight drug screening.

Diaz's drug test failure eventually led to the Nevada Athletic Commission suspending him for a total of five years and fined him $165,000, as well.

The heart of the matter

Now that the charges of domestic violence against Diaz has finally been dropped, the Stockton fighter is seemingly available and focusing towards a return to the UFC in the foreseeable future.

Diaz, who following the legal matter, took it to his official Twitter handle and revealed his plans of a long-awaited return to the Octagon, via the following tweet.

As noted, Diaz's tweet read that he's finally grateful for getting past this case and thanked his team and his lawyer Ross Goodman for doing all the excellent work.

In addition, Diaz would, more importantly, thank all his fans who stuck beside the top Welterweight fighter throughout the entire process.

What's next?

Now that Diaz is cleared to fight again, it'll be very interesting to note if the former Welterweight top gun eventually makes his return to the UFC at some point down the line, given the fact if the two parties decide on solving their issues and move ahead with a profitable future.
