UFC News: Paige VanZant says she'll fight Ronda Rousey, but there's a catch

VanZant says she’ll fight Rousey on her terms

Paige VanZant may have a match up with Michelle Waterson this weekend (Saturday, December 17, 2016) at UFC Sacramento, but that doesn’t mean she’s not considering some future money fights for herself in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Former UFC women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will make her return to the Octagon later this month to take on Champion Amanda Nunes for the championship, and when asked by TMZ (courtesy of LowKickMMA) if she’d fight Rousey in the future, ‘PVZ’ states she would do it at a catchweight of 125 pounds, and also gave her prediction for Rousey’s upcoming fight:

“If she wants to meet at 125, (I’d fight her). I’d have to go up (from strawweight). I would consider going up to 125. It’s not that big of a weight gain for me. We’ll see if we meet at 125. I don’t believe in ring rust – I believe it’s 100 percent mental. So if she’s 100 percent mentally focused on that night, then she’s going to win it. I would say Ronda by armbar.”

The stipulation that VanZant has proposed for a future bout with Rousey is virtually unrealistic, as a weight cut to 125 pounds seems a little too much of a stretch for ‘Rowdy’ to make. As for this super fight, unless Van Zant can bulk up to 135 pounds, it seems like that’s one that we’ll never get the opportunity to see.

While VanZant continues to climb her way up to the championship ranks of the 115-pound division, Rousey is attempting to regain her 135-pound title that she lost over a year ago.

VanZant and Waterson will meet in the main event of UFC on FOX 22 live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California this Saturday (December 17, 2016).
