What's the story?

During a recent interview on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show, Santiago Ponzinibbio revealed which Welterweight challenger he would like to face-off against next, following his impressive win over Neil Magny this past weekend in Argentina.

In case you didn't know...

At UFC Fight Night: Argentina, Santiago Ponzinibbio scored yet another impressive win over Neil Magny in the main event of the evening, as the native Argentinian won the fight via a brutal fourth-round Knockout.

Coming into this fight, Ponzinibbio had already beaten the likes of Mike Perry, Gunnar Nelson, and Court McGee, building a six-fight winning streak in the UFC.

The heart of the matter

At the recently concluded UFC Fight Night 140 in Argentina, Santiago Ponzinibbio legitimately cemented his place as one of the genuine top Welterweight contenders. However, since current Welterweight Champion, Tyron Woodley, who is apparently poised to face Interim Champion Colby Covington, Ponzinibbio is rather hopeful of facing the winner of the upcoming bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman.

When asked about potential fights in the Welterweight Division, Ponzinibbio also noted that he apparently isn't interested in a fight against former Welterweight Title challenger, Darren Till. (H/T: MMA Mania)

“I don’t see him as a very professional athlete. I think he missed weight a few times, so there are other fights that I’m more interested in than him. It would be a great fight to fight one of those victors, between the Dos Anjos-Usman fight.”

What's next?

Kamaru Usman and Rafael dos Anjos will lock horns in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale later this month in Las Vegas, Nevada. We now know for the fact that Ponzinibbio will be watching this fight very closely and expect him to challenge the winner of this bout as well.
