UFC News: Uriah Hall wants to avenge an embarrassing loss

Uriah Hall has his eyes set on taking revenge for past loss against Derek Brunson back in 2016, but says that the fight would be nothing more than a “stepping stone” for him on his way forward.

Hall is coming off two back to back wins against Antonio Carlos Jr. and Bevon Lewis after losing to Paulo Henrique Costa at UFC 226. Clearly, he is in a great place both mentally and physically, and Hall would very much like to make use of it and avenge his first-round TKO loss to Brunson.

Hall on posing a threat to Brunson

Right now, Hall is pretty confident about having what it takes to defeat the Brunson if the rematch happens. He also claims that in the last fight, Brunson did a poor and sloppy job of winning and had the referee, Herb Dean’s help with an early stoppage.

“The way he won, it was like what? Really? And, of course, Herb Dean saved him. That’s the fight I want. I know I can beat him. I’m in the best place where I can do it. I saw his last fight; they were saying that he did a good job. I thought that it was sloppy, but I know I can beat him. He’s nothing compared to me now. He got lucky. Like I said, I’m embarrassed how he won, and he can sit there and say whatever he wants, but he doesn’t want to fight me now because he knows the threat that I possess right now.”

Although it would be an opportunity for Hall to equal the head-to-head score, for him it is more like clearing an obstruction on his way to the top. Hall said that he wanted the fight because it makes 'perfect sense' since both of them were on a winning streak and would make great contenders for the Middleweight division.

“He’s just a stepping stone. At the end of the day, it’s business, man. A stepping stone. He’s in my way. He’s ranked, what, (No. 8)? It makes perfect sense. He’s coming off a win, I’m coming off a win. It makes perfect sense.”

Hall also said that he is ready for the fight before the year ends, if Brunson is up for it, and he is quite positive of the result at the end of it as he says with conviction, “He’s not going to be champ.”

Whether UFC will book the fight or not, only time will tell.
