UFC on FOX 28 ended in controversy, as Jeremy Stephens appeared to land an illegal knee on Josh Emmett before the fight ended in a brutal KO.

#1 Josh Emmett vs. Jeremy Stephens

Josh Emmett got off to a great start as he gauged Stephens’ distance & timing with pawing strikes in Round 1.

Emmett then proceeded to drop Stephens with a beautiful counter hook. However, in the moments that followed, Emmett began showboating against the ever-dangerous Stephens.

It was in Round 2 that Stephens dropped Emmett with a hook of his own. Following which, Stephens swarmed Emmett and never let up.

Stephens rained down several punches & elbows on Emmett, however, he appeared to have landed an illegal knee on the latter as well as a few elbows that hit the back of Emmett’s head. The fight currently stands as a KO win for Stephens, however, Emmett is said to be appealing for the loss to be overturned, owing to the illegal knee and elbows to the back of the head.

#2 Jessica Andrade vs. Tecia Torres

Jessica Andrade faced some early trouble against Tecia Torres in this highly-entertaining matchup.

Torres showed off beautiful striking right off the bat, however, Andrade ended up taking the former down and controlling her on the mat. Andrade rag-dolled Torres on the mat, and went on to earn a one-sided decision victory.

#3 Ilir Latifi vs. Ovince Saint Preux

Ilir Latifi put on an excellent showing against Ovince Saint Preux.

Latifi surprised Saint Preux on the feet; tagging the latter and rocking him on a couple of occasions. The bout was brought to an end after Latifi caught a dazed Saint Preux in a Standing Guillotine Choke for the victory.

#4 Max Griffin vs. Mike Perry

Max Griffin came in with an excellent game-plan to out-work Mike Perry.

Griffin used long-range strikes to keep Perry at bay, and never planted his feet for more than two punches. Griffin did a great job of staying on his bike and forcing Perry to fight from the outside—even dropping the latter in the second stanza of the fight.

In the end, Griffin was awarded the decision victory on all three scorecards.

#1 Brian Kelleher vs. Renan Barao

Brian Kelleher put on an excellent showing against former UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao.

While this fight was contested at Featherweight, Barao seems to have bulked up for the division over the past few fights, and the size difference between the duo was negligible. Kelleher showcased superior boxing and volume striking against the former Bantamweight kingpin and worked enough so as to sway the judges in his favor.

#2 Marion Reneau vs. Sara McMann

Marion Reneau put on an amazing performance against a seemingly gassed Sara McMann.

While McMann dominated Reneau in Round 1, the former seemed to fade hard in the second Round. Reneau dropped her foe with a crisp striking combination, following which she went on to catch McMann in a beautiful Triangle Choke.

#3 Angela Hill vs. Maryna Moroz

Angela Hill threw precise, disciplined combinations over the course of this matchup.

On the other hand, Moroz threw several strikes, with only a few of them actually landing on Hill. In the end, the judges scored Hill’s accuracy and consistent output over Moroz’s flailing strikes—handing Hill the decision victory.

#4 Alan Jouban vs. Ben Saunders

Jouban put on yet another dominant showing against ‘Killa B’.

Jouban utilized his jab and leg kicks to cut down the bigger fighter. Following which, Jouban caught Saunders with a beautiful hook right to the jaw; scoring a walk-off KO over Saunders.

#1 Sam Alvey vs. Marcin Prachnio

Sam Alvey put on an amazing performance against Marcin Prachnio.

Despite the latter’s karate background, he seemed to be rushing toward Alvey in a straight line on multiple occasions over the course of the fight. Alvey timed Prachnio with a beautiful counter hook, and repeated the same; ending the bout with a walk-off KO.

#2 Rani Yahya vs. Russell Doane

Rani Yahya dominated the action on the feet right off the bat against a seemingly gun-shy Russell Doane.

Yahya then found himself defending Takedowns against Doane, as the latter was determined to take the fight to the ground. Nevertheless, Yahya reversed the position and ended up securing an Arm-Triangle Choke for the victory.

#3 Alex Perez vs. Eric Shelton

Alex Perez put on a great showing—both on the feet and the mat against Eric Shelton.

Perez used the first round to get his foe’s distance and timing down. He utilized his jab to keep Shelton at bay—something that set the tone for the rest of the fight.

In the end, Perez did enough so as to sway the judges in his favor.

#4 Manny Bermudez vs. Albert Morales

Manny Bermudez came out in a frenetic pace against Morales.

Bermudez maintained his pace throughout, whereas Morales seemed to be overwhelmed by the former’s aggressiveness. The end came in Round 2, as Bermudez slapped on a beautiful Guillotine Choke on Morales.
