Main Card (FOX)

#1 Rafael Dos Anjos vs. Robbie Lawler

youtube-cover

Although this matchup shot down his detractors’ argument that his chin is gone, Robbie Lawler did appear to be slower with his reflexes as compared to his legendary reign with the UFC Welterweight Championship.

A lesser fighter would’ve crumbled under the barrage of strikes thrown by Dos Anjos, however, the Ruthless One smiled until the very end and saw the final bell despite being subjected to a sustained beating at the hands of RDA the former UFC Lightweight Champion. As always, Lawler showcased his technical boxing skills, but it was his reaction time—which seems to have slowed after all the wars he’s been in—that betrayed him against a much-faster, fresher foe.

RDA thoroughly out-pointed Lawler both on the feet as well as on the mat, and scored a clear-cut decision win in this main event matchup.

Result: Rafael Dos Anjos def. Robbie Lawler via Unanimous Decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)

Ponzinibbio used the first round to gauge the distance and get Perry’s timing down, and although the latter had his moments over the course of the fight, the Argentine kept his composure and maintained a long-range approach with Perry.

With ‘Platinum’ Perry being a hellacious KO puncher and dangerous finisher, Ponzinibbio stayed cautious until the very end. The latter could’ve pursued the finish in Round 3, but chose not to do so owing to Perry’s wide hooks. In the end, Ponzinibbio walked away as the victor across the judges’ scorecards.

Result: Santiago Ponzinibbio def. Mike Perry via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
