Anthony Pettis is coming off a defeat at Welterweight to Nate Diaz, who used the platform to call out Jorge Masvidal. Following his knockout of Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson earlier this year, Pettis sounded like he intended to stay at Welterweight.

However, that's not the case anymore. The former UFC Lightweight Champion will be moving back to the 155 division and his return is going to come in less than two months, according to MMA Junkie.

The website reported that Pettis is all set to return to 155 on January 18th and his opponent is none other than Diego Ferreira (16-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC). It's an interesting match-up to get back in Lightweight mix and Pettis will be expected to pick up the victory.

The January 18th card, of course, happens to be the one where Conor McGregor is expected to make his return. While nothing has been confirmed, all signs seem to indicate that McGregor vs Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone will be the fight that main events the PPV.

If McGregor is main eventing the PPV, then there's not going to be any title fight on the rest of the card. Anthony Pettis also fought on the last Conor McGregor card at UFC 229 in the co-main event, where he faced Tony Ferguson.

Despite Ferguson not being 100%, he decimated Pettis in what was the Fight of the Night. He broke his hand during the fight and his coach Duke Roufous refused to let him take any more damage, stopping the fight upon his request.

Since then, Pettis has won one and lost one and he'll be looking to get back in the W column. The Lightweight division is the most stacked one on the roster and even being in the Top 10 is an achievement.
