ONE Friday Fights continues to uphold Lumpinee Stadium’s legacy of greatness.

The ninth installment of ONE Championship’s weekly venture in the “Mecca of Muay Thai” will keep that trend going, as ONE Friday Fights 9 will be headlined by a rematch between Regian Eersel and Sinsamut Klinmee for the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title on March 17.

These two modern-day gladiators first touched base at ONE on Prime Video 3 last year, where Eersel narrowly came away with a razor-close split decision win to earn his spot among the promotion’s two-sport world champions.

‘The Immortal’, of course, has had a perfect run inside the circle so far, going unbeaten in eight straight matches.

Sinsamut, though, is the only opponent to make him appear human. Even in defeat, ‘Aquaman’ turned a lot of heads with his gutsy performance, which definitely earned him an immediate rematch.

With that said, here are three reasons why Regian Eersel and Sinsamut Klinmee II will be even more exciting than their first meeting.

#3. Regian Eersel and Sinsamut Klinmee are apex predators

What makes this intense rivalry so tantalizing to watch is that both men are world-class talents with their own unique fighting styles.

For starters, Eersel has been practically untouchable since joining the largest martial arts organization in the world in 2018.

It’s not like he was eking out closely-contested decision wins either. Prior to Sinsamut giving him a scare, the Surinamese-Dutch striker has breezed through the competition en route to an incredible six-year undefeated streak.

Sinsamut, on the other hand, was a relatively unknown fighter who came out of nowhere and blasted two of the best strikers in the promotion with relative ease.

The Thai destroyer racked off back-to-back spectacular knockout wins over the likes of Nieky Holzen and Liam Nolan, to earn his shot at Eersel.

#2. Eersel and Sinsamut bring forth a contrast of striking styles

While both fighters are killers in their own way, they often overwhelm their opponents in different ways.

Regian Eersel, the reining ONE lightweight kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion, uses his pterodactyl-like wingspan to execute his challengers from long range.

His stifling jabs come from all angles, while those who manage to get too close for comfort often feel the wrath of his concussive knees.

The Sityodtong Amsterdam standout’s fight IQ is second to none, as he methodically dissects his foes’ weaknesses for five full rounds.

Sinsamut Klinmee, on the other hand, might not be as technical as the double champ, but he does possess an innate ability to end fights in an instant.

Every strike the 27-year-old throws has bad intentions. Moreover, he doesn’t mind jumping through the line of fire just so he can unload his bombs.

Eersel and Sinsamut each had their moments in their first fight, and it will be interesting to see whose style will reign supreme in their do-over.

#1. Eersel and Sinsamut both have something to prove at ONE Friday Fights 9

Despite the consistent greatness he continually exudes inside the circle, it seems that Eersel still doesn’t get the credit and recognition he truly deserves.

Perhaps he’ll finally get some respect on his name if he secures a highlight-reel knockout victory against Sinsamut.

‘The Immortal’ had to dig deep in their first bout, as a late surge in round 5 earned him the nod from the judges’ scorecards.

This time around, he wants to take the officials out of it by sending ‘Aquaman’ to a deep slumber.

Meanwhile, Sinsamut would love to showcase the improvements he has made after that disappointing setback against the world champion.

While the heavy-handed hitter will still chase the knockout as he always does, he’s also eager to prove that he’s a complete fighter.

Dethroning a cerebral fighter like Eersel will certainly catapult him to the top of the pecking order of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world.
