What's the story?

Dana White has revealed in an interview with NYPost that he intends to give CM Punk another shot in the octagon with a second UFC match.

In case you didn't know...

CM Punk remains one of the more popular WWE Superstars and former world champions around despite having quit the company, and not appearing for many years now. As we head towards RAW 25 and the Royal Rumble, the rumblings of Punk's return are starting again.

However, Punk seems to have remained committed to UFC despite a fairly disastrous debut into the sport which saw him lose to Mickey Gall in 2 minutes, 14 seconds after tapping out, a stark contrast to the hype that surrounded him going in.

The heart of the matter

This seems to have been reinforced by Dana White's recent comments that will disappoint most WWE fans wanting to see Punk return, by stating that he's willing to let the last man to hold a WWE world title for more than a year, have another fight in the MMA sport.

“I like that guy. He’s a good dude. He wants one more. He wants to get another shot. I’m going to give it to him.”

What's next?

There are absolutely no further details as to when Brooks' next fight will be, who it will be against, or whether it will actually even happen. But it looks like we will see CM Punk in a cage at least once more.

Author's take

I was a huge fan of CM Punk as a wrestler and I truly hope that he can make it in the sport of MMA. But at the age of 39, he's running out of time to really do anything more in either sport. Personally, I'd welcome him back to the WWE as soon as possible.
