Chandhok 12th, Buemi clinches London ePrix

London, June 27 (IANS) Karun Chandhok, the only Indian driver racing in Formula E, finished 12th at the London ePrix round one here on Saturday.Driving for the Mahindra racing team, Chandhok clocked 48 minutes 30.379 seconds competing in the second-last Formula E race of the season.

His teammate, Bruno Senna of Brazil, had to settle for 16th spot. He finished the circuit in a time of 48 minutes 43.207 seconds.

26-year-old Sebastian Buemi of Switzerland who clinched the race in a thriller against Jerome D'Ambrosio staying ahead only by 0.939 seconds. Buemi, driving Renault, had the Belgian Ambrosio breathing down his neck for much of the race. Ambrosio finished the race in 47 min 55.723 sec in his Dragon Racing car.

Lucas di Grassi clocked the fastest lap of the rest and finished 4th. France's Jean-Eric Vergne, racing for Andretti, finished in third. He was +1.667 second behind Ambrosio.

Buemi's win helped him close the gap at the top of the drivers' standings.

The result also meant that Renault have secured the team championship in the penultimate race of the season. Round two of the race is scheduled for Sunday.
