Dani Pedrosa has won the 2012 Moto GP Malysian Grand Prix. The win puts Pedrosa just 23 points behind championship leader Lorenzo. Mathematically speaking, with two races to go and 50 points up for grabs, Pedrosa now has a great chance to challenge Lorenzo for the title.

Casey Stoner finished in third place after battling hard in the wet conditions. The Australian has not yet recovered from the injury he sustained few months ago.

The weather in Sepang played a havoc as it usually does be it Formula 1 or Moto GP. The deteriorating conditions meant that race was red-flagged on lap 13 and was never restarted as there was too much standing water.

As the rain started to fall more heavily mid-way through the race, a number of drivers found themselves in the gravel trap. Ben Spies had a very horrific accident which left him with dislocated shoulder. Doviozo, Crutchlow, Randy De Puniet, Evan Silva and Bradl all crashed out within a space of few laps.

Seconds before the race was red-flagged, Lorenzo had a very scary moment at turn 15 when he almost lost the front end of his Yamaha.

In the end it was Dani Pedrosa who took the win from Lorenzo and Stoner in second and third places respectively Nicky Haden and Valentino Rossi finished in fourth and fifth places for the Ducati team. Bautista, Barberá, De Puniet’s teammate Espargaró, Paul Bird Motorsport’s James Ellison and Abraham made the rest of the top 10.

Rain also played havoc in Moto 2 race in which the championship leader Marc Marquez crashed out and missed out on the chance to seal the championship. The Moto 2 race was won by De Angelis. Anthony West and Rea were the other podium finishers in second and third places respectively.

Syahrin finished, ahead of Simón, Speed Master’s Andrea Iannone, Kallio, Smith, Technomag-CIP’s Dominique Aegerter and Espargaró’s teammate Esteve Rabat.
