London, June 23 (IANS) After nine races in spectacular city centres around the world, the inaugural Formula E Championship will come to a close this weekend with a double-header event in the centre of the British capital.

Mahindra Racing will be centre stage in the heart of the city's Battersea Park with drivers Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok once again at the helm.

Having visited locations in Asia, Europe, North and South America, the championship will be played out in front of a packed crowd. In a twist, Battersea Park will host not one but two races as the cars will take to the track on both Saturday and Sunday.

The circuit itself is comprised of the exterior roads around the park and features 17 corners on the 2.9 km anti-clockwise circuit. Anticipated to be quite a high speed circuit, the narrow and slightly cambered track will likely provide some thrilling action over the course of two full days' worth of racing.

The London ePrix will signal the end of a thrilling season for the innovative electric racing series with Mahindra looking ahead to the coming season -- the team have already been testing their season two challenger, the M2Electro, on track in preparation.

"It's going to be so cool to race in central London. I've been running around Battersea Park for years so it's a bit surreal to imagine racing cars around there now. Until we have a race in India, this is pretty much my home race having lived in the UK for 13 years," said Chandhok.

"It's been a bit of a frustrating season in terms of unfulfilled potential for us, so it'll be nice to sign off with some good results. There's been a lot of hard work from everyone in Mumbai and Farnham over the past 18 months and everyone's very motivated to end this first season on a high."

Chandhok's Brazilian teammate Senna added, "The London ePrix should be a very special one as it's the first racing event happening inside London for many years. So we will likely see a great crowd and hopefully great racing too. From my perspective I'm hoping to get a strong result to finish the season on a high note."
