The 2018 race at the Circuit de Catalunya had a better ending for Lorenzo than 2009 as he finished the race on the top step of the podium.

Driving for Ducati, Jorge Lorenzo started the race from pole position, ahead of Marc Marquez and his teammate Andrea Dovizioso. The Spaniard started the race strong and had a healthy battle with Honda's Marquez for the better part of the race. Eventually, during the final stages of the Grand Prix, Lorenzo put the hammer down and crossed the chequered flag first with a healthy lead of over four seconds.

This was the 31-year-old's second successive win of the 2018 season, marking his first back-to-back wins since the year 2016.

The 2015 Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix decided the MotoGP World Championship in Jorge Lorenzo's favour.

The Spaniard started the race from pole position while his championship rival Valentino Rossi started the race from the back of the grid, courtesy of a penalty. Lorenzo had a fantastic start and led the race from start to the finish, despite the enormous pressure put by the Honda riders - Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

Lorenzo finished less than 0.7 seconds ahead of the duo to claim the race win. Despite his valiant effort, Rossi could not finish higher than the fourth place, which ensured that Lorenzo would lift his third MotoGP World Championship title.
