Valentino Rossi

During the second free practice of the Assen MotoGP, it was last year’s race winner Ben Spies who dominated the TT Assen Circuit. He stayed ahead of Cal Crutchlow and Nicky Hayden after a close fight. Crutchlow was well on pace despite his fractured ankle.

Also Alvaro Bautista was well on pace, setting the fourth best time. Spies’ teammate and FP1 leader Jorge Lorenzo came in fifth after losing pace in the final stages of the session. He was followed by Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.

Valentino Rossi still seemed to be struggling with bike and came in eighth. He was followed by Hector Barbera, who had recovered from an early crash in the session. The top ten was completed by Casey Stoner, whose run was affected by issues with his bike.
