MtoGP & Indonesian Government representatives held a press event in Jakarta about a potential 2017 event in Indonesia.

The country’s dream to host the prestigious racing event are now closer to reality following the arrival of CEO Dorna Sports SL., Carmelo Ezpeleta and Managing Director of Events Area, Javier Alonso on Wednesday, 20th May 2015.

Ezpeleta also indicated that Indonesia could be granted a place on the MotoGP calendar from 2017 to 2021. "The goal is achievable for the country to host MotoGP. But, Indonesia will have the race if they fulfill all the requirements," explained him.

The last Indonesian Grand Prix took place at the Sentul Circuit in 1997 when Valentino Rossi took the victory in the 125cc class, with Mick Doohan winning the 500cc race.
