Sauber crisis can be resolved with bigger budget: Kaltenborn

Sauber’s manager Monisha Kaltenborn said that a bigger budget would definitely improve the chances of helping Sauber emerge from the competitive crisis it is involved in.

Sauber and their grey C32s were not quite up to speed the weekend in Canada, with both Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez withdrawing after crashes.

“The paradox is that the sport is very exciting, we are having very good races as a sport, so that part is working well,” she told Brazil’s Totalrace.

“On the other hand, it is very difficult to attract more sponsors, which has more to do with the global economic climate.”

While Kaltenborn staunchly believes that a bigger budget will get them out of this rut, he refuses to blame F1 for failing to attract sponsors.

“It’s tough,” she said, “and if we had more money, we could develop more quickly and probably get out of the situation that we are currently in.”
