Video: Wins for Cairoli and Herlings at Grand Prix of Latvia

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team dominated round 11 of the FIM Motocross world championship.

There were storming victories by Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings in the MX1 and MX2 categories respectively.

After winning the MX1 class at the Grand Prix of Latvia last year, Tony Cairoli repeated his success with an impressive performance on a technically difficult track.

A bunched start in race one saw him clip Gautier Paulin.

Both riders recovered but Ken de Dycker took advantage to open up a lead on his KTM team-mate.

The Belgian maintained his position, finishing seven seconds clear of Cairoli with Clement Desalle third.

In the second race Cairoli dominated from the start, forcing de Dycker and Desalle to slot in behind him for second and third place.

Tommy Searle challenged Desalle in the closing stages, only to stall his engine and fall back into sixth.

Cairoli, with his 61st career victory, has now been on the podium in every GP this season and has laid a solid foundation towards retaining his World Championship title.

Equally impressive in the MX2 class was KTM rider Jeffrey Herlings, who has now won every world championship round this season..

While others, including Alexander Tonkov and Mel Pocock, struggled with the course, Herlings continued his meteoric rise with victory in both races.

It was the Dutch teenager’s 27th GP win and he has now equalled David Strijbos as the most successful Dutch rider ever.
