A fan spectating at the opening round of the 2018 World Endurance Championship (WEC), 6 hours of Spa, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium posted a video of a horrific crash involving the Russian driver Matevos Isaakyan.

The video shows the Russian's SMP Racing BR1 LMP1 car went airborne at the Eau Rouge and does a backflip before crashing into the tyre barriers. A closer observation to video shows the car going over the painted rumble strips before it took off in the air. Fortunately, Isaakyan walked unhurt after the high-speed crash.

The Eau Rouge is one of the fastest and most challenging corner's of any race circuit in the world, typically cars reach up to 300kmph at this section. This was the second incident of the weekend at the Eau Rouge involving the BR1.

In qualifying, DragonSpeed's Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of F1 double world champion Emerson Fittipaldi lost control while running through Eau Rouge, colliding with the barriers and suffering fractures to both legs.
