Cup Series driver Kyle Busch has been competing in races in the lower series of NASCAR in partnership with Spire Motorsports. Recently, Corey LaJoie revealed that Spire's time with Busch was not as fruitful as they would have imagined and then further shed light on his return to racing for his former team.
Two-time Cup Series champion Busch has competed in four races in the Truck Series this season, piloting the #7 and the #07 Chevy Silverado. While he has been winless in the Cup Series since the 2023 Enjoy Illinois, he secured a victory in a Spire truck at Atlanta Motor Speedway early in the season.
Recently, Corey Lajoie announced his 9-race deal with Spire in the Truck Series, which will start with Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. Furthermore, as he came as a replacement for Kyle Busch, LaJoie revealed how the two-time champion was not the best fit for the team.
"They asked me to do it and I was like 'Yeah sure, got some weekends open.' That Truck is going to be the best on the filed, that I've ever driven. Obviously to win is the goal, but to progress that Truck team. You know, they had a couple of off weeks with Kyle (Busch) driving. So, would love to just have a couple of great runs off the bat here," LaJoie said [3:00 onwards]
Kyle Busch’s 2025 season hasn’t shaped up the way he likely envisioned. The two-time Cup Series champion has struggled to produce strong results and remains winless, still searching for a playoff-clinching performance.
With Corey LaJoie now filling his seat at Spire Motorsports, Busch will have fewer distractions and more opportunity to focus solely on improving his Cup campaign moving forward.
Josh Berry anticipates a Kyle Busch-like reckoning for Carson Hocevar following Nashville incident
Carson Hocevar and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were involved in a on track incident last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. The latter was bumped by Hocevar in the left rear, sending him into the wall and ending his race.
A similar incident had occurred at North Wilkesboro last season when Kyle Busch and Stenhouse Jr. got into a brawl post-race, where the latter punched the Cup champion. WBR driver Josh Berry believes that the Hocevar-Stenhouse incident might end with a similar fate.
"Might finally see the No. 77 get punched after that," @joshberry says re: the No.47 of @StenhouseJr going around after contact from @CarsonHocevar
The incident between Kyle Busch and Stenhouse Jr. led to a $75,000 penalty for the aggressor. Moreover, following RSJ's incident with Hocevar, in a post-race interview, he was heard saying that punching him would be 'too expensive.'
