Alex Bowman reminisces about his journey with Hendrick Motorsports

Looking back at what has been a promising career so far at one of the sport's biggest teams, Alex Bowman had big shoes to fill at Hendrick Motorsports. Filling in for a retiring Jimmie Johnson in the #48 Chevrolet at Rick Hendrick's organization was and still is by no means an easy task.

The 31-year-old looked back at how this journey came to be as he approaches his 300th start with the racing outfit. Bowman reminisced about his journey and elaborated to hendrickmotorsports.com, saying:

"I took a job driving the simulator for Hendrick Motorsports. I worked with Kenny Francis in the simulator for many hours. Most everybody else was pretty busy and I was currently driving Cup cars. That year, I ran nine races for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series."

He added:

"Those went pretty well. It was July, two days before Loudon (New Hampshire) and Dale (Earnhardt Jr.) called. Everything kind of last minute spiraled into me filling in for him at Loudon."

During his eighth full-time season with the team, Alex Bowman has managed to accrue 7 wins to his name, along with 36 top 5 finishes and 84 top 10s over the years at Hendrick Motorsports. It remains to be seen how well he performs this Sunday at Dover.
