Kyle Larson and Corey LaJoie recently shared their thoughts on gaining and losing their pit crew members. After Larson and the #5 team were penalized for their tire mishap at Texas last week, it was announced that pit crew members from LaJoie's team would come in to replace the suspended personnel.
Larson recently revealed how he felt about gaining LaJoie's pit crew members to journalist Bob Pockrass. The #5 driver also shed some light on how having new crew members would or would not affect his race as a driver.
"When I was reading the whole roster stuff I was like, 'Man, I feel bad for Corey (LaJoie) because he's basically losing most of his team for me,'" Larson said.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver claimed that as a driver, he doesn't think he'll have to do anything differently with the new members on his team.
"I just try to be consistent, hitting my marks and all that. I don't think I need to change up anything. And I don't really think they should change anything either," he said.
Larson further mentioned what he's anticipating from the new members on his pit crew.
"I know they'll be good because Corey's pit crew has been extremely fast all year. I think Hendrick's got a lot of depth with this group," Larson added.
How Corey LaJoie feels about losing his crew members to Kyle Larson
The Spire Motorsports driver revealed that he is neither upset nor hung up about losing his pit crew members to Kyle Larson. LaJoie's perspective was to be happy for his crew members.
"It's part of the deal. Also I like seeing my guys go to the house cars because those guys are making more money and my guys have shown they are very good. They've had a lot of great stops. I don't like losing them but I'm glad they're going to have some chance to win races on a championship car," LaJoie said.
It's worth mentioning that NASCAR issued another penalty for Larson and the #5 team ahead of Talladega for unapproved adjustments to the roof rails of his racecar. During the race, Larson will have to serve a pass-through penalty. His crew chief has also been ejected for the race in Talladega.
So with all of these factors in mind, having a good result at Talladega could be a tall task for Larson considering he is going to start from the rear as well. But perhaps having LaJoie's crew members on his team could end up helping him during a race in which fortunes change within seconds regardless of one's starting position.
