NASCAR 2022: Final results for South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 is finally done and dusted. The first race of the Round of 8 started at 2:30 pm ET and lasted for 3 hours, 4 minutes, and 10 seconds. It took place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a total of 36 entries.

Driving the #22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, Joey Logano captured his third win of the 2022 NASCAR season. With the win, he became the first playoff driver to secure a spot in the Championship 4, giving him a shot at the 2022 Cup Series championship for the fifth time in his career.

On Sunday, Logano grabbed the lead when he passed race leader Ross Chastain with three laps to go and managed to hold off Chastain to the finish line to win the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The win marked the 30th NASCAR Cup Series career victory for the #22 Ford driver and he became the third driver to win more than twice in the first 33 races.

Meanwhile, Chastain led a race-high 68 laps to win his first championship 4 spot but failed to hold off Logano’s late charge in the final stretch of the race and finished the race as runner-up. He was followed by Kyle Busch, Chase Briscoe, and Denny Hamlin completing the top five.

Landon Cassill, Ty Dillon, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, and Bubba Wallace failed to finish the race.
