After the announcement of Corey LaJoie's split from Spire Motorsports, rumors of the North Carolina-based driver moving to FDNY Racing were on the rise. However, the Jim Rosenblum-owned team has now dismissed those rumors via a post on social media.

The NASCAR driver market has been volatile since the announcement of Stewart Haas Racing shutting shop at the end of this year. Weeks after SHR's news, Spire Motorsports announced its split with Corey LaJoie.

Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports, highlighted the 33-year-old's importance in the development of the team over the past three years in the official press release. He further clarified how their interests not aligning was the primary reason for the separation.

“Corey LaJoie has been a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports since  2021 and it would be impossible to overstate what he’s meant to this organization and how much I’ve agonized over this decision,” Dickerson commented in the press release.

Since then, rumors of LaJoie joining FDNY Racing for the 2025 Truck Series have been circulating in the NASCAR world. Putting an end to the rumors, team has now posted a response on X.

"Nice try though."

For reference, Corey LaJoie has managed to finish just once in the Top 10 and Top 5 in the 2024 Cup and Truck Series combined.

A brief look at Corey LaJoie's 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season with Spire Motorsports so far

After back-to-back disappointing seasons, Corey LaJoie was looking to make amends in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The Spire Motorsports driver had scored just three Top 5s and four Top 10 finishes in the 2022 and 2023 seasons combined.

LaJoie had a dismal start this year, with just one Top 5 finish (Daytona International Speedway) in the first five races. The North Carolina-based racer has been unable to change his form in the races since, resulting in an average finish of 22.727.

The highlights of LaJoie's 2024 season were the races at Daytona International Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Darlington Raceway, where he managed to score 33, 28, 24, 23, and 21 points, respectively.

As of now, LaJoie has finished just one race in the Top 5 and one in the Top 10 and has managed to amass a total of 324 points, 425 points behind Kyle Larson, the current leader in the drivers table. As for the Playoffs, he is 228 points below the cut-off mark.

This lack of overall performance has led to Corey LaJoie's dismissal from Spire Motorsports.

“I don’t know what the next step is. It’s been a unique situation with all the variables that are in play, but nonetheless, I am at peace with it. I’m excited about what the next chapter holds," LaJoie said on the latest episode of Stacking Pennies, explaining the current situation.
