In an episode of the Dirty Mo Media podcast with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brown mentioned one of the most successful Formula One team's participation in other forms of racing like the Formula E, Extreme E, Can-Am and IndyCar Series.

Furthermore, the British racing team's CEO talked about their involvement with Hendrick on account of former Cup Series champion Larson's attempt for a second try for the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 double.

Brown reckons it's not just for the passion for racing but from a sponsors and business perspective. He said (0:47):

"When I joined McLaren, one of the things I said was, look, you know, we got to get our F1 team back on track, but I'd like to see us back in other forms of racing. So we're kind of a crossover team."

He added:

"So I think to go racing with Rick Hendrick, who's kind of the McLaren of North America, just an icon in North American motorsports. I think that's kind of consistent with our brand.

"And ultimately from a business standpoint, our sponsors want to see us in America as much as Formula One's taken off in America. I want to have a bigger piece of America, if you'd like. Majority of our sponsors, U.S. will be the most important market, if not the most important one of them."

Soon after his first Cup Seris playoff race, it was announced that he would attempt 'The Double' on May 25 next year. Kyle Larson in a press release said (via IndyCar.com) :

"I really enjoyed the month of May in Indy and racing with Arrow McLaren, but I was really disappointed with missing the Coca-Cola 600 with the No. 5 HendrickCars.com team.
"I appreciate the second opportunity because we have unfinished business. I really want to complete all 1100 miles, and I think we have the opportunity to battle for the win in both events."
