With the Bank of America ROVAL 400 just around the corner, nascarman on X remembered a time when NBC featured a 7-year-old Chase Elliott on the TV while his father and Hall of Famer, Bill Elliott cruised around the 1.5-mile quad-oval intermediate speedway.

To this day, Bill and Chase Elliott remain one of the three father-son duos to win NASCAR championships. Furthermore, from 2018 to 2021, Junior Elliott was named the Most Popular Driver, an honor that his father received 16 times throughout his career.

Here is the footage of the race from 11 October 2003, which shows Chase watching his father racing the No. 9 Chevy; little did he know that it would be his ride in the future:

Following in the footsteps of his father, the 28-year-old Dawsonville native drives the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro in the Cup Series. He won his first NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2020.

Chase also won the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2014. With that, he became the first driver ever to win a national-level championship in their rookie season. He is currently on his ninth full season in the Cup Series.

The 19-time Cup Series race winner's most recent victory came at Texas Motor Speedway in April, which got him the ticket to the playoffs.

Chase Elliott not frustrated at his 20-race winless streak

Chase Elliott snapped a 42-race winless streak at Texas in April. However, he has not won a single race since then. He sits eighth in the Cup Series drivers' standings with 3061 points. In the playoff picture, he sits 13 points above the cutline.

This means either Chase needs to win a race or gather enough points to make it to the next round. However, when asked about the same by a reporter during the latest media availability at Talladega Superspeedway, he said:

"I don't necessarily find it frustrating... It does seem like we have a more consistent widespread number of winners yearly since we've had this car. So, that's been interesting to watch."

Regarding his expectations from the upcoming race on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Chase said,

"I kind of look at it like it's a new race track, truthfully. That section of the track is going to change the entire flow of the lap there, so I've been kind of approaching it as a new track with my preparation. I've spent some time in the simulator, just trying to really memorize the track and where the little bumps are."

In his last seven starts at Charlotte, Chase Elliott amassed a victory, three top-5s, and a single top-10 finish. In his 21 starts there since 2015, he led a combined 365 laps.
