NFL analyst reveals which quarterback is a parody of Patrick Mahomes: “It feels like he's the photo negative”

Patrick Mahomes has been in great form this season

Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since being drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. Anytime a quarterback is compared to a player of Mahomes' caliber, it would be a good thing.

However, one analyst thinks that the New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is a parody version of Mahomes.

Former NFL defensive back and current analyst Domonique Foxworth spoke with Mina Kimes on The Mina Kimes Show and compared Zach Wilson to a fake version of Patrick Mahomes.

Foxworth said that while Wilson may have a similar playing style to Mahomes in terms of spinning and throwing the ball at different angles, he is not nearly as effective.

"It feels like he's the photo negative of Patrick Mahomes because he does all the Mahomesian buy-time things. [He] is spinning, he's cutting, dodging, changes arm angle, except the Chiefs fans are excited when Mahomes does it and the opponent’s fans are excited when Zach Wilson does it because it's like, ‘Oh, it's about to be a big play for us. He's shaking all the defensive tackles. Get excited, guys.'"

In Mahomes' first season as a full-time starter, he won the league MVP by throwing 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards. He then won the Super Bowl in 2020 against the San Francisco 49ers.

In Wilson's rookie season, he went 3-10 as a starter, completing only 55.6% of passes for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. This season, he's 4-1 as a starter but has struggled, completing 54.9% of passes, with three touchdowns and five interceptions.

It's still early on in Wilson's career, but he is currently well below the level of an established star like Mahomes.
