Dr. Ashis Roy is the first man from India to run 100 marathons.He ran his first marathon at the age of 52, and completed his 109th Marathon (the Potomac River Run Marathon) on May 1, 2011 at 78. Roy served in the Indian Air Force for 21 years and after retirement with the rank of Wing Commander settled in New Delhi in 1978 as a Practicing Cardiologist. At the age of 50 years Roy took up jogging and running to maintain good health. He ran his 1st Marathon at the age of 52 years and by the time he became 75 years old, he had completed 82 marathon races in his sports profile, which is a National record for men in India. He is a cardiologist, and the author of \"The Joy of Running\".
