James Dean died due to a car crash.

James Byron Dean was a promising American actor in the 90s. The actor was born on February 8, 1931, in Marion, Indiana, U.S., and entered the industry during his youth days. He first made his screen appearance through a Pepsi commercial. Dean then quit college and began focusing on full-time acting.

His first speaking role was in the TV drama Hill Number One, which was a special drama based on the Resurrection of Jesus. James Dean played the role of John the Apostle in it. Dean's career took off slowly and gradually. During his struggling days, he not only worked as an actor but also worked as a parking lot attendant at CBS Studios and a stunt tester.

His versatile performance helped Dean bag more and more projects in the TV industry. He made his big screen debut through the 1951 released film Fixed Bayonets! and in no time Dean began gaining a massive fan following. The movies that James Dean is very well known for are East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause. Dean not only gained fame for his performance but also for his fine looks.

James Dean died at the age of 24 in a car crash as the actor was en route to weekend sports car races at Salinas along with his Porsche factory-trained mechanic Rolf Wütherich. On his way on "the racer's road," a shortcut for sports car drivers traveling to Salinas, Dean's Porsche hit a two-toned black and white 1950 Ford Tudor at the junction of California State Route 46 (former U.S. Route 466) and California State Route 41.

Dean's new Porsche 550 Spyder was smashed into the ground two or three times in cartwheels according to witnesses and landed in a gully beside the road. The witnesses rushed to help Dean and somehow managed to rescue him and Rolf from the wrecked car. As per the witnesses and other reports, Dean's left foot had been crushed between the clutch pedal and the brake pedal and he also suffered major internal and external injuries, including a broken neck.

One of the witnesses was a nurse who claimed that the actor was alive but his pulse was very weak and dropping as time passed by. James Dean and Rolf Wütherich were rushed to the hospital. While Wütherich managed to survive, Dean was pronounced dead on arrival on September 30, 1955.

James Dean died at the junction of California State Route 46 (former U.S. Route 466) and California State Route 41. The actor's car hit another car's head leaving his Porche Spyder being thrown off ahead on the road after two or three cartwheels. Reports and witnesses claim that the actor was barely breathing and that he was gravely injured due to the impact and intensity of the collision.

On the recommendation of his Porsche factory-trained mechanic Rolf Wütherich, James Dean chose to ride hai brand new Porsche 550 Spyder to the weekend sports car races at Salinas. Wütherich was traveling along with Dean and was thrown out of the car during the car collision. Wütherich managed to survive the impact but Dean passed away at the age of 24 while being rushed to the hospital.
