“4th Gen leaders”: aespa sold 1,372,929 million copies on the first day of EP MY WORLD’s release

On May 8, aespa released their third mini-album MY WORLD accompanied by its title track Spicy. Within 24 hours of the album's release, the four-member girl group made waves by selling 1,372,929 million copies on just the first day per Hanteo Chart.

According to the aforementioned chart, the album-selling division can be broken down into roughly 386,000 copies of the intro version and another 397,000 copies of the poster version. Next, the tabloid version accounts for 188,000 copies, while the zine version accounts for 220,000.

aespa has earned the title of a ‘million-seller’ second time after their previous EP Girls

Notably, this is also aespa’s second time becoming a ‘million-seller’ after their second mini album Girls. Other prominent K-pop girl groups have sold over 1 million copies on their first day.

Previously, BLACKPINK achieved this with their second full album BORN PINK which sold 1.01 million copies on the first day, and LE SSERAFIM’s first full-length album UNFORGIVEN which sold 1.02 million copies on the first day. MY WORLD singers aespa have created a new record and smashed LE SSERAFIM’s previous record in six days.

Also in just one day of the album’s release, the quartet has already achieved the second-highest first-week sales and appeared in the list of top five girl groups twice. BLACKPINK has ranked first with 1.54 million copies, followed by MY WORLD, LE SSERAFIM’s UNFORGIVEN with 1.19 million copies, aespa again with their mini-album Girls achieving 1.12 million copies and finally, IVE’s I’ve IVE with 1.1 million copies.

Fans of aespa have flocked to social media to congratulate the singers on their recent accomplishment.

Previously, they also broke their personal record for stock pre-orders with 1.8 million copies making a record as the girl group with the second-highest number of stock pre-orders in girl group history. The girl group surpassed their own personal record of 1.61 million stock pre-orders with their second EP Girls. BLACKPINK’s BORN PINK still holds the record as the girl group with 2 million stock pre-orders.

On May 8, the talented four-member girl group comprising Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing made a triumphant comeback with their new mini-album MY WORLD and its lead single Spicy.

The four-member girl group’s new title track can be best described as a dance track with dynamic synth bass sounds and strong beats. The lyrics particularly highlight their charming, vivacious, and free-spirited charms, also visible through their beautiful vocals and youthful aura.

The Spicy music video at present has recorded 25 million views on YouTube. Additionally, MY WORLD has also topped iTunes' Top Album charts in 20 countries worldwide, including Japan, Thailand, Singapore and European and LATAM countries - Finland and Brazil with Spicy also charting on South Korea's major music charts as well.
