A viral video where Amazon’s Alexa claimed that aliens were making their way towards Earth has gone viral online. The virtual assistant stated in the TikTok video that the same was detected by the James Webb Telescope. Netizens have since taken to the internet to react to the clip.
The clip was seemingly posted by user @risirose18 on TikTok and went on to be uploaded by Marcellus Cruse on Facebook. The video started off with a person asking Alexa, “What did the James Webb Telescope detect is coming towards Earth?” The bot claimed that an “armada of alien ships” was making its way to the planet at the speed of light. Alexa also attributed the discovery to Github.io.
It is worth noting that scientists haven't confirmed the same at the time of writing this article, let alone the James Webb Telescope finding that aliens were making their way to Earth. Meanwhile, Amazon has not responded to the viral Alexa video either.
The video amassed millions of views online. Netizens meanwhile took to the internet to respond to the bot's claims. Many ridiculed the same and expressed their disbelief online. Some reactions to the reposted clip on Facebook read:
Other internet users hilarious brought up God coming to Earth instead of aliens. Several other netizens also claimed that it was an otherworldly entity that summoned the extraterrestrial entities upon Earth.
Others pointed out that Alexa could be manipulated to say as instructed. Some other reactions to the clip read:
James Webb Telescope spotted distant galaxy as TikTok video of Alexa goes viral
Although the James Webb Telescope did not discover extraterrestrial activity, the device spotted a galaxy named GS-NDG-9422. As per Webb Space Telescope press release on September 25, the same existed a billion years ago after the Big Bang.
University of Oxford astronomer Alex Cameron said in the press release that the galaxy can help infer how the “cosmic story” began. It was also reported that the galaxy had a unique light that it owed to a space gas. Speaking about the Webb telescope being used for new discoveries, Cameron said:
“It’s a very exciting time, to be able to use the Webb telescope to explore this time in the universe. We are just at the beginning of new discoveries and understanding.”
The galaxy also reportedly boasts stars that are much hotter than those in known galaxies. The stars reportedly contain heavier elements than those found in the universe, which mostly consist of helium and hydrogen.
The stars found in the galaxy reportedly exceed 140,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is twice as much as the stars found in the Milky Way.
It is worth noting that it remains uncertain as to whether artificial intelligence was being used to create the aforementioned TikTok video, at the time of writing this article.
